Ireland’s Magnet Networks to serve up Wimbledon finals in 3D

Irish telecommunications and TV services provider Magnet Networks will serve up BBC One’s first ever 3D broadcast, the Wimbledon tennis finals. Magnet have recently added BBC One HD to their fibre-based TV service, which will allow its customers to view the Wimbledon finals on July 2nd and 3rd in 3D for the first time ever.

3D coverage from Magnet Networks offers yet another reason to watch Wimbledon

A compatible 3D TV and glasses are needed to benefit from the 3D experience, which Magnet CEO Mark Kellett believes will be something truly unique,

“The 3D broadcast is as close to the live action on Centre Court as actually being there. With the Wimbledon Championships set to kick off on Monday, we’re delighted to be able to offer the finals in 3D in people’s living rooms and expect strong viewing figures for this event.”

Magnet customers without compatible 3D TV sets can still watch live sporting action in high definition using Magnet’s newly introduced BBC One HD, or in standard definition on BBC One or TG4. Alternatively, anyone can watch the action live on Magnet’s free web-based TV service which we have reported on previously.
