Nominations being sought for 2011 Irish Web Awards

Nominations for the 2011 Irish Web Awards are now open, with entrants being sought in 24 different categories. The Realex Payments sponsored awards ceremony will take place on October 22, 2011 in the Mansion House, Dublin.

The Irish Web Awards are sister awards of the Social Media Awards and the now extinct Irish Blog Awards. By the organisers’ own admission, the are not like any other ceremony. There will be no sit-down dinner, there’s no such thing as a dress code and MC for the night Rick O’Shea will keep things light-hearted and fun (with the occasional bad joke).

Nominations are open to everyone until midnight on September 21, 2011. Two rounds of subsequent judging will determine each category winner, and in the interest of transparency, judges’ scorecards will be published online after the ceremony is over.

Meanwhile, in keeping with the awards theme, nominations are also currently being accepted for the eircom Spiders, which are due to be held in the Convention Centre, Dublin on November 10, 2011.

Tickets for the eircom Spiders are currently on sale, while tickets for the Irish Web Awards will go on sale in the next few weeks. Here’s a short video of last year’s Irish Web Awards,
