Get Twitter RSS feeds with these one click bookmarklets

We love Twitter but we hate that they have removed RSS feeds from users’ profiles and search – if fact we’ve written about it a few times.

But while most systems designed to generate Twitter RSS feeds require you to hack around with the URL we thought we’d look at an easier way.  So we developed these easy-to-use bookmarklets which allow you to generate RSS feeds for users’ profiles and search terms.

A bookmarklet is a small piece of code that sits in your browser’s bookmarks toolbar.  Like browser add-ons, they’re designed to add extra functionality to your browser or the sites that you regularly visit.

Find out how bookmarklets can be used to help you interact with various social networks faster and easier.

We have two Twitter RSS bookmarklets, one for profiles and one for searches.  To use these, just drag the links from the page onto your browser’s bookmarks’ bar (Chrome and Firefox).  If you’re using Internet Explorer just right-click on the links and select “Add to Favorites”.

Twitter user
To access the RSS feed for a Twitter user, first visit drag the blue link below onto your browser’s bookmarks’ bar and then log into Twitter and visit a Twitter users’ page (e.g. @thesociable). The page’s URL should be in the format http://twitter.com//#!/USERNAME. Once there just click the link – this will then open that user’s RSS page.

Twitter search
To create an RSS feed for a search term drag the blue link below to your browser’s bookmarks’ bar and then search for a term on Twitter (e.g. technology). Now, click on the bookmarklet in your browser’s bookmarks’ bar – this will generate that search term’s RSS feed.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with Twitter geo searches just yet, which require coordinates to work.

There you go- let us know if you have any suggestions or additions.
