Google CEO Larry Page
Although only a little over two weeks old at this stage, Google+ has already surpassed 10 million users who share one billion items every day, according to Google’s CEO Larry Page.
Speaking during yesterday’s Q2 2011 earnings conference call, Page also revealed that the Google +1 button is being clicked 2.3 billion times every day, and that 550,000 Android phones were being activated every day also.
130 million Android devices in total have been activated, with six billion app downloads from the Android Market. This equates to just over 46 app installs on average per Android device, considerably less that Apple’s 83 app installs per device average.
News of the current successes of Google+ and Android come as Google report record second quarter profits of $9.03 billion ending June 30th, 2011, and representing an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year.

These are really quite impressive figures: it's whether plus is sustainable in its growth that is the next challenge, though the speed at which Google are iterating new technologies makes it a really exciting area to be in. This could change the social world, we just need to want it to.
