Formula One, the world’s fastest motorsport, will be showcased in an event that will take place through the streets of Dublin next year, will all major F1 teams expected to represent. The spectacle will attract over 250,000 people to the capital, reports The Irish Times.

The event, which is described as a “day-long demo” rather than a competitive race, is organised and sponsored by Barvaria Beer and follows on from the successes of similar events held in Moscow and Rotterdam. Gavin Collin, managing director of the racing event states that it has been 16 years since Ireland experienced the excitement of F1,

“It has been 16 years since Ireland witnessed the excitement of a current F1 car but Bavaria City Racing is about to change that.”

The F1 demo, which starts from the Central Bank and finishes on Custom House Quay, will take place on June 3rd, 2012. Many of Dublin’s attraction, including Trinity College, Bank of Ireland, the Custom House, Samuel Beckett bridge, and Convention Centre, will feature along the specially designed track.

Tickets that allow access to special areas of the track go on sale tomorrow. The fast majority of event, however, can be spectated free of charge.
