Finalists announced for next weekend’s Blog Awards Ireland

Almost 150 finalists for this year’s Blog Awards Ireland have been announced, with the categories Best Newcomer, Best Personal and Best Fashion/Beauty amongst the most popular.

In fact, Best Newcomer category, exclusively for blogs started after June 2011, received over 350 nominations, showing that blogging in Ireland is stronger than ever. Overall, 2,000 nominations were received.

One of the event’s organisers, Amanda Webb, spoke of the calibre of nominations received and the award’s ability to recognise the efforts of the Irish blogging community,

“The strength and diversity of this year’s nominations highlights the wealth of quality blogs in Ireland in a range of different categories from politics to the Irish language, craft and eco/green issues. We hope that the awards will not only recognise the efforts of the blogging community, but also encourage others who have not blogged before to give it a try.”

Blog Awards Ireland takes place in the Osprey Hotel, Naas on October 13. We’ll be there tweeting live updates with the hashtag #blogfestIrl.
