LinkedIn and YouTube founders to speak at October’s Dublin Web Summit

Dublin Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave

As promised, the organisers of the Dublin Web Summit have begun naming some of the confirmed speakers for this October’s two day summit, starting with two founders from some of today’s most influential internet companies. They are Eric Ly, co-founder of LinkedIn, and Jawed Karim, co-founder of YouTube.

Eric Ly was co-founder of LinkedIn where he served as founding CTO and vice-president. Ly helped LinkedIn grow user base and reach profitability quickly. He has also co-founded a number of other companies in the past, including Presdo, where he currently holds position as CEO. Presdo is a web application that helps groups of people find the best time to meet each other.

Jawed Krim co-founded the world’s largest video sharing site YouTube. Krim was also an early employee at PayPal where he helped implement the company’s first real-time anti-fraud system. It was while working at PayPal that Krim met fellow YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steven Chen. When Google acquired YouTube in October 2006, Krim’s company stock was valued at a tidy $64.6 million. This enabled him to launch a venture firm called Youniversity Ventures with early PayPal investors Kevin Hartz and Keith Rabols.

Tickets for October’s Dublin Web Summit go on sale next Tuesday, July 26th. There is still time though to apply for a €100 ticket voucher.
