Artificial intelligence is moving from isolated experiments toward a broader role in how retailers approach customers, operations, inventory and commerce. As companies explore ways to apply the technology across increasingly complex parts of the retail stack, the conversation is also shifting toward how those systems can deliver measurable business impact.

That transition will be the focus of RetailClub AI Festival 2026, an event created by the founders of Shoptalk and Groceryshop around the ways AI is reshaping the retail industry.

The event will take place from September 22 to 24 on an outdoor beachside boardwalk in Huntington Beach, California. Organizers expect around 2,000 retail leaders, brand executives and technology providers to attend, with more than 150 speakers across two stages.

From AI experimentation to retail execution

RetailClub is built around the premise that AI is changing multiple layers of the retail industry rather than representing a single technology category.

Among the areas being addressed are customer engagement, commerce, operations and the data infrastructure required to support AI driven decision making.

The scale of the event also reflects the growing interest in how retailers can move beyond experimentation and incorporate AI into their broader business strategies.

That includes questions around personalization, pricing, promotions, inventory, fulfillment and the connection between stores and digital commerce.

The event’s focus comes at a point when retailers are considering not only what AI can do, but how it can be integrated into systems and workflows that already support their businesses.

For technology leaders, that creates a practical challenge. AI initiatives need to move from demonstrations and pilots toward implementations that can operate within existing environments and contribute to measurable business outcomes.

RetailClub’s format is designed around those conversations, bringing together retail executives, brands and technology providers in a setting focused specifically on AI’s role in the industry.

Conversations around AI adoption in retail

Among the technology companies participating in the event is Nisum, which will attend as a Level 2 sponsor with booth #312 on the boardwalk.

The company will host two “Breakthru Experiences” sessions during the festival, both presented by Sajid Mohamedy, a Nisum board member.

The session, titled “From Pilot to P&L: An Unfiltered Guide for Retail Technology Leaders,” will examine why some AI pilots in retail fail to reach production and what distinguishes initiatives that continue into the next budget cycle.

The sessions are scheduled for September 23 from 12:45 to 1:20 p.m. PT and September 24 from 10:00 to 10:35 a.m. PT.

Nisum’s participation will also cover four areas of retail technology: customer growth and personalization, AI powered margin growth, unified and agent ready commerce, and data and AI for retail performance.

The company says it has worked in retail and commerce for more than 25 years and currently has more than 1,500 engineers and consultants. Its services include digital strategy and transformation, personalized customer engagement, AI first platform engineering, data and cloud modernization, and AI and agentic solutions.

Nisum will also host a bonfire gathering for clients and guests on the evening of September 23.

With AI now influencing areas ranging from customer interactions to fulfillment and inventory, RetailClub AI Festival 2026 will provide a forum for retailers and technology providers to examine what comes after the initial wave of experimentation.

The central question is increasingly less about whether AI can be applied to retail and more about how retailers can turn those applications into systems that work at scale.
