Cllr. O’Rourke (@CllrAengusOrour) posted a message on his personal Twitter account at 11pm on Saturday which said that Cowen told supporters that he will resign. O’Rourke gave no indication of the source of the information nor has there been any confirmation from the Fianna Fáil party.
O’Rourke tweeted,
Apparently Cowan is in his local, The Tap bar in Tullamore with supporters and friends now, he has indicated that he will step down tomorrow

This is not the first time that O’Rourke has suggested on Twitter that the Taoiseach will step down, in a tweet posted on Friday he made a similar prediction, he posted “Fianna Fail leadership; consultation process with TD’s ongoing – word seems to be that Brian Cowen will accept the inevitable and resign.”
Cowen has been under pressure in the past week to resign after it emerged from the Sunday Times that he meet with Sean FitzPatrick, the ex-head of Anglo Irish Bank, in July 2008, two months before the bank bailout.
