Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman at Google, has announced that Google’s new Groupon competitor Google Offers will launch later today, Wednesday. Schmidt made the announcement at the D9 Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, which will initially launch in Portland only.
GrabOne, a relatively new social buying service has gone live in Ireland today. The venture, backed by Independent News and Media, operates similar to other social buying services like Groupon, essentially offering a new deal each day with promised savings of between 50% and 70%.
At a company event in London this morning, Facebook has announced the launch of Places Deals, a service that allows people to check-in to business locations using their smartphone in order to avail of special offers, in the UK and parts of western Europe.
