Microsoft’s Bing image search gets major update – now shows trending images

Microsoft’s Bing image search engine got a major redesign today with the launch of trending image gallery.  The update, which is now live for all Bing users shows an image gallery of the top 20 searched terms on the image search engine.

With the Oscar nominations announced today the site’s gallery is composed mostly of celebrities such as Sacha Baron Cohen Isla Fisher, Penelope Cruz And Javier Bardem, Will Smith And Jada Pinkett.  Also trending today are Sasha Obama, following her father’s State of the Union Address and, for some odd reason, “Cute Squirrels” and not so cute “Giant Crayfish

Microsoft is the latest search company to adopt twitter-like trending topics, in December 2010 YouTube, the world’s second largest search engine after Google, launched a trending video page.
