A new online Irish TV service, aertv, launched yesterday, allowing viewers to watch 11 Irish and international channels in one place, directly within the browser. What’s more, the service requires no registration and is absolutely free.
aertv is a free service re-branded from Magnet WebTV with a new simpler interface and a new live music channel aertv music – Ireland’s first. Anybody living in Ireland with a decent internet connection and a laptop, smartphone or tablet can enjoy the service, without the need for an additional set-top box or satellite dish.
The 11 channels available are RTÉ One, RTÉ One +1, RTÉ Two, TV3, 3e, TG4, RTÉ News Now, RTÉ jr, France 24, Russia Today and Dáil Éireann.
With 71% of people in Ireland watching TV on devices other than a traditional television set, and 20% of these doing so regularly, a service such as aertv is long overdue.
Magnet broadband customer have the option of receiving 16 additional channels for €3.99 per month. As usual, aertv can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
