Although this figure may come as no surprise to most but almost 9 out of 10 tweets concerning our incumbent Taoiseach Brian Cowen are negative in nature according to TweetFeel. TweetFeel is a service that combines real-time Twitter search with sentiment detection algorithms to determine whether a tweet is positive or negative.
We conducted our analysis for the keyword ‘Brian Cowen’ a short time ago with results showing that 88% of a selection of tweets mentioning Brian Cowen were seen as being negative.
Some of the negative tweets included:
Historian Diarmuid Ferriter said on Saturday View yesterday the Brian Cowen is the worst Taoiseach in the history of the state. #vinb
— Malachy Browne (@malachybrowne) November 21, 2010
Tony Killeen “Brian Cowen is not finished”. Stinks of denial
— Neil Brazil (@neilbrazil) November 22, 2010
However, we believe that this 88% figure should really be higher as the few tweets that TweetFeel actually thought of as positive really should have been flagged negative:
Vincent Brown, I love you. Brian Cowen, you’re a disgrace. #bailout
