Android continues market share surge in US

According to the latest comScore mobile subscribers market share report, Google’s Android platform has continued to make significant gains in US mobile market share, largely at the expense of RIM, the makers of BlackBerry mobile devices. Google remains the dominant player in the US mobile market with an average 34.7% of market share during the three months ending March 2011, up 6% on the three months ending December 2010.

Android will power half of world’s smartphone market by 2012

According to market research firm Gartner, Android will power almost half of the world’s smartphone market by 2015. Android, Google’s mobile device operating system, will continue to see phenomenal growth in 2011, as it has done throughout last year, and finish with over 38% market share by the end of this year.

Google remains dominant leader over US search market

Google remains the dominant search market share leader with 65.4% of all explicit searches in the US in February 2011, according to comScore qSearch analysis. Yahoo! came in second with 16.1% market share, Bing at 13.6%, Ask at 3.2%, and AOL at 1.7%. Explicit searches are those that reflect specific user intent to interact with the search results.
