Only twelve weeks after launch media check-in service IntoNow has been acquired by Yahoo! for a speculated $30 million dollars. The service exists as an iPhone application that provides real-time social experiences around broadcast media programming.
At a company event in London this morning, Facebook has announced the launch of Places Deals, a service that allows people to check-in to business locations using their smartphone in order to avail of special offers, in the UK and parts of western Europe.
Foursquare users checked in over 380,576,305 times in 2010, including once from the International Space Station, the company announced today. Describing 2010 as “an insane year” the three year old smartphone social network released some information (in infographic form, of course) about their userbase.
Rumours have been circulating around Twitter in the last few days speculating that Facebook Places is about to launch in Ireland. While The Sociable can confirm that Places is not live in Ireland yet, we do expect this to happen in the very near future.
