Some Android users are finding it difficult to connect to the Android app store today. New and old Android users are finding it difficult to connected to the market, probably as result of the number of Android devices gifted during the Christmas period. The downtime seems to be intermittent but users who can connect are finding apps slow to download.
Skype, the world’s largest VOIP network, has been brought down due to an apparent software bug. The bug has been preventing the many of the service’s 42 million active members from connecting to the network. Skype first reported the downtime at 5 o’clock GMT (midday EST), four hours ago. According to the company the software bug is preventing Skype applications from routing calls to correct locations through what they call “supernodes.”
Facebook will launch a revamped email application on Monday, in direct competition to Gmail. TechCrunch reports that the new application, which will automatically be included in user Facebook accounts, will now become a fully fledged webmail client.
Twitter's status blog reports that the social network's new interface is down. Users currently logging into Twitter are seeing blank screens, no error messages are being shown. Twitter clients such as TweetDeck and Hootsuite are not affected.
