Digital identity in the New World Order isn’t just about identifying who someone is, but is rather the foundation that citizens need in order to access services and participate in the digital economy, according to a United Nations panel on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
On the sidelines of the United Nations 81st General Assembly, a session on “The Digital Public Ecosystem: Identity, Trust, and Inclusive Access in the Digital Economy” was convened to highlight how Nigeria’s mandatory digital identity scheme served as the backbone for all interactions with both the public and private sectors.
Speaking on behalf of Nigeria’s vice president, Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hadejia declared that digital identity in the New World Order went far beyond simple identification.

As of June 2026, digital identity has been mandatory in Nigeria thanks to the passing of the NIMC Act.
NIMC stands for the National Identity Management Commission.
When the NIMC Act was passed, it mandated that a National Identification Number (NIN) be obligatory for every Nigerian wishing to access vast swaths of public and private services.
Speaking at the same UN session, NIMC Director General Bisoye Coker-Odusote elaborated on how the NINAuth mobile digital identity wallet app was designed to be the one login to rule them all.
“NINAuth technically is your digital credential wallet app that we have, which has been built to be able to ensure that at some point in time it’s your single sign-on to access any private sector service or government service within the country. It is also supposed to be the platform that allows for cross-border interoperability”

Public-private partnerships, which represent the fusion of corporation and state (aka corporatism or fascism), are essential to making digital ID work in the New World Order.
And the same public entities that are supposed to regulate the private sector are the very ones who wish to cozy-up and be partners with them.
Nigeria’s head of digital ID said it herself.
“From a NIMC perspective […] when we’re looking at the private sector, yes we do regulate the private sector, but at the same time, we want to make sure that we continue to strengthen that partnership that we have because it’s their job to go out and implement, and we want to make sure that we make their lives a lot easier; we want to ensure that we advance the cause of their mandate through verifiable identity credentials”

Within the Nigerian government, there is a belief that regulators need to partner with the businesses that they are regulating.
But that’s crazy!
That’d be like accusing the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of meeting with, and accepting money from, big pharma companies they’re supposed to regulate.
With such glaring conflicts of interest, there’s no way that would happen!
At any rate, according to Nigerian officials, the New World Order requires that digital identity be mandatory — no opt outs, no choice, no dissent.
But it doesn’t stop there.
The UN meeting also heard from the private sector.
Software engineer and entrepreneur Olugbenga Agboola, who is the co-founder and CEO of Africa’s largest fintech company, Flutterwave, said that he wanted to take what NIMC was doing with digital ID and export it to the rest of the world.
“I want to export the work NIMC has done to the entire world […] Naturally, KYC [Know Your Customer] will become easier for everybody […] If you work with a Nigerian, we’ll give you all their information — where they live, where they’re from, their post code, their address, where they bank [..] That would be the future I’d like to see”

Behind all the mandatory, cross-border KYC information, Nigeria has been working for years to develop a cradle-to-grave DPI scheme to catalogue all “key life events” for every citizen.
In March 2025, The Sociable reported that Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy had published a document called, “Supporting Life Events: The Nigeria Digital Public Infrastructure Framework,” outlining the country’s agenda to install DPI.
“Throughout a citizen’s life, from birth to old age, there are marked moments of significant life events requiring support or service from the government,” the paper begins.
“Some of these services include registration of births, antenatal healthcare, vaccines, school enrollment, scholarships, health insurance for business registrations, filing of taxes, etc.“
These “life events” would require every citizen to have a digital ID, and this was fully realized with the passing of the NIMC Act just three months ago.

Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is a civic technology stack, sometimes referred to as the “India Stack,” which consists of three fundamental pillars: digital identity schemes, programmable fast payments systems, and massive data sharing between public and private entities.
Speaking of fast payments, in October 2021, Nigeria launched a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) known as the eNaira, which was so unpopular that one year later less than 0.5 percent of the population was using it.
In December 2022, Nigeria’s central bank instructed the country’s banks and other financial institutions to limit the amount of cash that individuals and organizations could withdraw both daily and weekly, while “encouraging” digital channels, such as the eNaira, which also had caps on daily transaction limits.
The fact that the United Nations dedicated three hours today to highlight Nigeria’s forced digital ID scheme and broader Digital Public Infrastructure as a model to be exported to the rest of the world speaks volumes.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 16.9 “legal identity for all, including birth registration, by 2030” states that “Everyone has the right to be recognized as a person before the law.”
No mention of digital ID exists anywhere in the globalese that they speak, and yet digital identity has become the defacto standard.
