Google secures patent for driverless cars

Google has been awarded a US patent which would allow them to bring self-driving cars to the road. It originally filed for the patent in May. The patent allows for the switching between a human driven mode and one in which a vehicle would drive itself.

Geolocation apps causing new privacy and safety fears for smartphone users

Smartphone users are becoming more concerned about their privacy when using geolocation apps, according to a survey released by Microsoft this week to coincide with Data Privacy Day. The survey found that users have a host of concerns for their privacy when using location based phone apps Some 84% of respondents said that they fear such applications could be used to help unknown people steal personal information or identities.

Loc8 generates 64,000 postcodes in first five months

Ireland’s first and only digital address system Loc8 Code have generated over 64,000 address codes since their launch in July of this year. In this period the companies’ website has also been gaining considerable interest with a reported 127,000 visitors to the site since the launch.
